The Feast of Trumpets, Yom Teruah, is the first of the fall feasts. Leviticus 23 calls it a memorial of the blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation on the first day of the seventh month. It opens the ten days leading to the Day of Atonement, and it is the only feast that begins on a new moon — the feast no one could know the day or the hour of.
